1. Functionalization of Synthetic Polymers for Membrane Bioreactors
Sammanfattning : Membrane bioreactors (MBRs) show great promise for productivity improvement and energy conservation in conventional bioprocesses for wastewater reclamation. In order to attain high productivity in a bioprocess, it is crucial to retain the microorganisms in the bioreactors by preventing wash out. LÄS MER
2. Synthesis of AcGGM Polysaccharide Hydrogels
Sammanfattning : Lignocellulosic biomass is believed to serve a prominent role in tomorrow’s sustainable energy and material development. Among the polysaccharide fractions of lignocellulosic biomass, the potential of hemicelluloses as a valuable material resource is increasingly recognized. LÄS MER
3. Cu(I) stabilizing polymers for marine anti-fouling applications
Sammanfattning : The growth of marine organisms on immersed surfaces in seawater is known as biofouling and causes several problems for marine transportation. The need to combat fouling is thus of great importance. Copper has to be used in extreme amounts to act as an efficient biocide. LÄS MER
4. Additive-Driven Improvements in Interfacial Properties and Processing of TMP-Polymer Composites
Sammanfattning : Efforts to address environmental concerns have resulted in new regulations designed to plan the reduction of plastic and synthetic polymer usage, necessitating the search for sustainable natural alternatives with comparable cost-effectiveness and mechanical performance. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibres are one of the most affordable natural fibres that have no chemical refining in production, production have a high yield of 90-98% and TMP fibres have been demonstrated to improve the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness and toughness) of wood-polymer composites (WPCs) compared to the pure polymer. 5. Towards compatibilization of cellulose nanofibrils in polymer matrices : Polymer design for mediating the nanofibril–matrix interface
Sammanfattning : Magnifying the nanostructure of wood reveals the features of an extraordinary nanocomposite material. In this nanocomposite, long fibrils of semicrystalline cellulose, with a cross-section in the nanometer range and length up to several micrometers, are embedded in an amorphous matrix made of other polymeric components.
