16. Pharmacodynamic interactions of quinolines with other antimalarial compounds in vitro
Sammanfattning : Chemotherapy remains the most reliable means for the control of Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Unfortunately the parasite has been able to develop resistance to the majority of the antimalarials currently employed. LÄS MER
17. Microbial Ecosystem Functions Along the Steep Oxygen Gradient of the Landsort Deep, Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : Through complex metabolic interactions aquatic microbial life is essential as a driver of ecosystem functions and hence a prerequisite for sustaining plant and animal life in the sea and on Earth. Despite its ecological importance, information on the complexity of microbial functions and how these are related to environmental conditions is limited. LÄS MER
18. Mechanistic studies of APR-246 in leukemia
Sammanfattning : PRIMA-1 and its analog APR-246 are novel drugs that restore the active conformation of mutated and unfolded p53 protein and induce apoptosis and cell death in various tumors in pre-clinical models. We first aimed to explore the effects of APR-246 alone and in combination with other drugs in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in vitro. LÄS MER
19. Adrenergic Receptors Regulating cAMP Generation and Thermogenesis in Isolated Brown Adipocytes
Sammanfattning : Adrenoceptors are the functional receptors in brown adipocytes. In the present study, the second messenger cAMP - and thermogenesis (which is an index of the energy metabolism of brown adipocytes) - were measured in order to reveal the intricate mechanism of effects generated by various adrenoceptor interactions with agonists and antagonists on brown adipocytes from hamster, mouse and rat. 20. Molecular Recognition Mechanisms: Thermodynamics and Polarization Spectroscopy of DNA--Intercalator Complexes
Sammanfattning : Mechanisms for molecular recognition in DNA--intercalator complexes have been investigated by optical spectroscopy. The effect of electrical charge on binding geometry and binding thermodynamics was studied using 2,7-diazapyrene (DAP) and its N-methylated cations DAP+ and DAP2+ as model ligands. LÄS MER
