  1. 1. Syndecan-1 insights in mesothelioma

    Författare :Ghazal Heidari-Hamedani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Syndecan-1 is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan expressing on epithelial cells. Heparan sulfate (HS) chains on syndecan-1 constitute growth factor attachment sites and facilitate growth factors to bind their respective receptors. This binding property of HS chains allows syndecan-1 to be involved in various cellular processes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies on syndecan-1 in mesenchymal tumors

    Författare :Fang Zong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The syndecans are a four-member family of type I transmembrane proteoglycans. Their core proteins have a short cytoplasmic domain, a transmembrane domain and a large N-terminal extracellular domain possessing glycosaminoglycan chains. All the protein domains and the glycosaminoglycan chains can contribute to the functions of syndecans. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Human papillomavirus in recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, tonsillar and mobile tongue cancer

    Författare :Christos Loizou; Katarina Olofsson; Karin Nylander; David Lindquist; Göran Laurell; Stina Syrjänen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Human papillomavirus; recurrent respiratory papillomatosis tonsillar cancer; mobile tongue cancer; voice-; and quality of life; p16; syndecan-1; northern Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the effects of the human papillomavirus (HPV) in tonsillar cancer, mobile tongue cancer, and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP). The purpose was to characterize patients with RRP in northern Sweden in order to identify more care-intensive RRP patients and to describe the voice and quality of life aspects that follow RRP. 4. 4. Role of syndecan-1 in tumor cell proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity

    Författare :Ashish Kumar Singh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Syndecan-1 (SDC1) is a heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) intercalated in the cell membrane but also translocated to the cell nucleus in a regulated manner. SDC1 is involved in several malignancy-associated processes such as proliferation and migration. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Translational studies of syndecan-1 as angiogenesis inhibitor : from basic research to clinical applications

    Författare :Joman Javadi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a highly aggressive primary tumor of the pleura, associated with poor prognosis. MM is mainly related to exposure to mineral fibers such as asbestos. The diagnosis of MM, despite multiple diagnostic tools, is challenging and treatment options are limited. LÄS MER
