    Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is Scandinavian nationalism from the late 18th century to ca 1920. The focus lies on that particular aspect of nationalism that was at the same time the most mundane and the most enigmatic: the ever-present depicting of the nation in words, pictures and music, which in effect created a parallel universe, a patriotic dreamland.     Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the multiple and contested spaces of belonging that may be evoked by ritualised musical performance. It makes an ethnographic case study of the Zorn Badge Auditions in Sweden, in which musicians play before a jury in the hope of being awarded a Zorn Badge and a prestigious but also contested title: Riksspelman.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to examine the style of the Swedish entertainer Povel Ramel (1922-2007) as a composer and lyricist of popular songs, and to elucidate his relation to the older popular music culture, denoted "the age of melody". In the main part of the study the author analyses more than 80 works by Ramel, which he created in the 1950s and 60s. LÄS MER
