1. Estrogen and aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling
Sammanfattning : The biological effects of estrogens are mediated by the two estrogen receptor (ER) isoforms, ERa and ERb. The ERs are ligand-inducible transcription factors that belong to the nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily. Ligand-activated ERs bind to specific DNA elements in promoters of target genes, thereby inducing transcription. LÄS MER
2. Rock Mechanical Effects of Cement Grouting in Hard Rock
Sammanfattning : A pre-grouted rock mass is subjected to stress re-distribution as the tunnel excavation progresses. The strength and deformation characteristics of grouted rock joints are therefore of interest in any effort to predict the rock mechanical behavior as well as the failure of sealing in a grouted rock mass. 3. Monocytes, Tissue Factor and Heparin-coated Surfaces : Clinical and Experimental Studies
Sammanfattning : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is associated with inflammatory response and activation of coagulation. Heparin coating of the CPB circuit is shown to improve the biocompatibility of the surface. The biological effects of a new heparin surface, the Corline Heparin Surface (CHS), prepared according to a new principle, have been studied. LÄS MER

5. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm : Experience from a Screening Study in Northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common problem with life-threatening consequences and was suspected to be a serious health problem in Norsjö, a municipality in northern Sweden. A screening study was undertaken to investigate the prevalence, risk factors associated with AAA and the effect of screening on quality of life (QoL). LÄS MER
