1. Forest Biomass Production Potential and its Implications for Carbon Balance
Sammanfattning : An integrated methodological approach is used to analyse the forestbiomass production potential in the Middle Norrland region of Sweden, and itsuse to reduce carbon emissions. Forest biomass production, forest management, biomass harvest, and forest product use are analyzed in a system perspectiveconsidering the entire resource flow chains. LÄS MER
2. Exploring aspects of automation decisions : A study in the Swedish wood products industry
Sammanfattning : The wood products industry is important to Sweden's prosperity, and is currently facing several challenges by increased global competition. To avoid the gradual decline of the industry’s contribution to the country’s revenues and employment opportunities, the Swedish wood products industry needs to increase the proportion of the raw material that is refined. 3. Development of body composition and its relationship with physical activity in healthy Swedish children : A longitudinal study until 4.5 years of age including evaluation of methods to assess physical activity and energy intake
Sammanfattning : Childhood obesity according to the World Health Organization is one of the most serious public health challenges of the 21st century. The proportion of childhood obesity is high both globally and in Sweden. This is of great concern since obese children tend to stay obese in adulthood. LÄS MER
4. Bioenergy from the Swedish forest sector : a partial equilibrium analysis of supply costs and implications for the forest product markets
Sammanfattning : As a response to policy requirements to improve energy security, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the use of bioenergy in Sweden has more than doubled since 1980. In 2008 bioenergy use in Sweden amounted to 108 TWh, or 18% of the total supply of primary energy. Nearly all of this bioenergy supply originates from the domestic forest sector. LÄS MER
5. Extraction of logging residues for bioenergy : effects of operational methods on fuel quality and biomass losses in the forest
Sammanfattning : Wood products play a key role in the transformation to a more sustainable society based on renewable bio-based resources, together with the positive effects on climate mitigation by replacing fossil fuels. However, to increase the use of forest fuel in practice it is important to understand the effects of handling and storage on its quality and removal of nutrients from the forest. LÄS MER
