  1. 1. Microplastic Mitigation in Urban Stormwater : Assessing Horizontal-Flow Filters of Bark, Biochar and Sand as Remediation Strategies

    Författare :Gabriella Rullander; Sahar S. Dalahmeh; Roger Herbert; Jes Vollertsen; Claudia Lorenz; Ann-Margret Strömvall; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Decentralized water treatment; Filtration; Filter systems; Pollution control; Porous media; Stormwater management; Sustainable solutions; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Urban stormwater has been suggested as a significant vector through which microplastics (MPs) reach aquatic environments. Currently, only a small fraction of stormwater in Sweden undergoes any form of treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sustainable Arsenic Mitigation A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access : A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access

    Författare :Mohammed Hossain; Prosun Bhattacharya; Marinus Eric Donselaar; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bangladesh; drinking water; arsenic mitigation; local tubewell driller; sediment color tool; low-manganese; Intermediate Deep aquifer; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In rural Bangladesh, the drinking water supply is mostly dependent upon manually operated hand pumped tubewells, installed by the local community. The presence of natural arsenic (As) in groundwater and its wide scale occurrence has drastically reduced the safe water access across the country and put tens of millions of people under health risk. 3. 3. Understanding the Clean Development Mechanism and its dual aims : the case of China's projects

    Författare :Qie Sun; Ronald Wennersten; Nils Brandt; Magnus Enell; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Clean development mechanism CDM ; Climate change mitigation; Kyoto Protocol; Sustainable Development; China’s mitigation strategy; Cost benefit analysis CBA ; co-benefits; Multi-criteria analysis MCA ; Analytic Hierarchy Process AHP ; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Sammanfattning : Having been running for over 10 years, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is considered an innovative and successful mitigation initiative. CDM has the dual aims of helping industrialised countries achieve compliance with their emission limitation and reduction commitments in a cost-effective way, while simultaneously assisting developing countries in sustainable development. 4. 4. Green growth and rapid decarbonisation? : Assessing policy objectives, instrument choice and behavioural mechanisms

    Författare :Jonas Sonnenschein; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Climate change; Mitigation; Policy; Carbon pricing; Green growth; Market failures; Behavioural insights;

    Sammanfattning : After the 2008/2009 global financial crisis, significant policy and scientific attention has been given to ‘green growth’, which aims at the concurrent achievement of economic growth and GHG emissions reductions via de-coupling. Despite ambitious aims, there is a lack of empirical knowledge about the effects and the potential of green growth climate mitigation policies. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Blue Oceans with Blue Mussels - Management and planning of mussel farming in coastal ecosystems

    Författare :Per Bergström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coastal management; Mytilus edulis; Growth; Planning; Modelling; Predict; Restoration; Mitigation; Aquaculture; Bioturbation;

    Sammanfattning : Eutrophication is one of the largest and most serious global threats to the marine environment. The effect of eutrophication has become increasingly clear during recent time, and major economic and political efforts are being made to tackle its causes and consequences in Sweden and its surrounding seas.
