  1. 11. Thermocoagulation in Deep Brain Structures : Modelling, simulation and experimental study of radio-frequency lesioning

    Författare :Johannes Johansson; Karin Wårdel; Stefan Andersson-Engels; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosurgery; Radiofrequency ablation; Finite element method; Blood perfusion; Cerebrospinal fluid; Free convection; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Radio-frequency (RF) lesioning is a method utilising high frequency currents for thermal coagulation of pathological tissue or signal pathways. The current is delivered from an electrode with a temperature sensor, permitting control of the current at a desired target temperature. In the brain RF-lesioning can e.g. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Validity and usability of a virtual reality intraocular surgical simulator

    Författare :Madeleine Selvander; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; simulator; cataract surgery; learning; training; Eyesi;

    Sammanfattning : Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgical procedures in Sweden and around 90 000 operations are made each year. An aging population with increased demands on quality of life and good visual acuity, has led to an increased rate of surgery and more surgeons needs to be trained. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Automatic generation of patient specific models for hip surgery simulation

    Författare :Johanna Pettersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Simulation of surgical procedures in computer based simulator systems is a relatively new area of interest in the field of medical technology. Many different systems are under development, but it is still far until this technique becomes routine in a clinical environment. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Design and optimization of parallel haptic devices : Design methodology and experimental evaluation

    Författare :Suleman Khan; Kjell Andersson; Jan Wikander; Ölvander Johan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical simulation; 6-DOF haptic devices; design methodology.; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The simulation of surgical procedures, in the case of hard tissues such as bone or teeth milling, using a haptic milling surgery simulator requires a haptic device which can provide high stiffness and transparency. To mimic a real milling process of hard tissue, such as for example creating a narrow channel or cavity, the simulator needs to provide force/torque feedback in 5–6 degrees of freedom (DOF). LÄS MER

  5. 15. Haptics with Applications to Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Planning

    Författare :Pontus Olsson; Ingrid B. Carlbom; Blake Hannaford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; medical image processing; haptics; haptic rendering; haptic gripper; visuo-haptic co-location; vibrotactile feedback; surgery simulation; virtual surgery planning; cranio-maxillofacial surgery; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Virtual surgery planning systems have demonstrated great potential to help surgeons achieve a better functional and aesthetic outcome for the patient, and at the same time reduce time in the operating room resulting in considerable cost savings. However, the two-dimensional tools employed in these systems today, such as a mouse and a conventional graphical display, are difficult to use for interaction with three-dimensional anatomical images.
