  2. 22. Interactions of cellulose and model surfaces

    Författare :Johanna Stiernstedt; Mark Rutland; William Ducker; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is fundamental surface force and friction studies of silica and cellulose surfaces, performed mainly with the atomic force microscope (AFM). The normal interactions between model cellulose surfaces have been found to consist of a longer range double layer force with a short range steric interaction, the nature of which is extensively discussed. 3. 23. Polymer Mediated Surface Forces

    Författare :Martin Turesson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyelectrolyte Solutions; Charge Inversion; Monte Carlo Simulations; Depletion Stabilization; Correlation Attraction; Colloid stability;

    Sammanfattning : The issue of controlling the stability between colloidal particles in solution is important, at least for industrial applications, relying on efficient flocculation or stable dispersions. The objective of this thesis is to shed some light on fundamental mechanisms behind the interplay between attractive and repulsive forces, in solutions containing colloids and polymers. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Structures of Polyelectrolyte Multilayers and Preasorbed Mucin : The Influence of Counterions

    Författare :Zsombor Feldötö; Eva Blomberg; Regine von Klitzing; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Sammanfattning : The focus in this thesis has been to gain a fundamental understanding of how different type of salts affect preadsorbed polyelectrolytes, both natural and synthetic. The knowledge from the fundamental work is then applied on a commercial system to investigate if the efficiency can be enhanced. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Surface and colloid chemistry of flotation deinking

    Författare :Björn M. Johansson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This study has been concentrated on explaining the surfacechemical phenomena that occur during the agglomeration andflotation of ink particles. The mechanism of agglomeration ofink particles in a calcium-fatty acid collector system has beenstudied. LÄS MER
