1. Surface reactivity of metal nanoparticles : - importance of surface active agents and biomolecules from a transformation, mobility and toxicity perspective
Sammanfattning : Metallic nanoparticles possess unique properties due to their size and are widely used in e.g. consumer products. From this follows a need to identify and assess potential risks of human and environmental exposure. LÄS MER
2. Immobilizing catalysts on textiles : case of zerovalent iron and glucose oxidase enzyme
Sammanfattning : Catalytic systems are one of the most effective technologies of modern chemical processes. The system uses a molecule called ‘catalyst’ that is capable of catalyzing a reaction without being produced or consumed during the process. LÄS MER
3. On salivary interactions with the antiplaque agents delmopinol and chlorhexidine : An experimental in vitro study
Sammanfattning : Several chemical agents have been used to aid in the removal of dental plaque and to prevent or decrease the occurrence of oral diseases, Defining the interactions of chemical agents and saliva contributes to a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in chemical plaque control. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the salivary interactions between two antiplaque agents and saliva and microorganisms at defined solid/liquid and air liquid interfaces. LÄS MER
4. Fundamental Characterization and Technical Aspects of a Chelating Surfactant
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to investigate the fundamental characteristics of a chelating surfactant in terms of solution behaviour, chelation of divalent metal ions, and interaction in mixtures with different foaming agents and divalent metal ion, as well as examining its prospects in some practical applications. Chelating surfactants are functional molecules, with both surface active and chelating properties, which are water soluble and therefore suitable for chelation in many aqueous environments. LÄS MER
5. Hydrophobic Impregnation of Concrete Structures : Effects on Concrete Properties
Sammanfattning : Hydrophobic impregnations often referred to as water repellent agents, today mainly consisting of alkylalkoxysilanes, are often used on concrete to prolong the service life of the structure. This is accomplished by protecting the reinforcement bars from chlorides or by changing the moisture content inside. LÄS MER
