6. Structural Aspects of Halocuprate and Haloargentate Anions in Supramolecular Systems
Sammanfattning : There is a growing interest in designing and engineering crystals of compounds with desired structures and properties. In this context, a better understanding of the intermolecular interactions present in crystals is of importance and much work is currently being directed towards this goal. LÄS MER
7. The Fate of Electronically Excited States : Ultrafast Electron and Energy Transfer in Solvated Donor-Acceptor Systems
Sammanfattning : Processes where a molecule absorbs visible light and then disposes of the excess energy via electron/energy transfer reactions have an important role both in nature (e.g. in photosynthesis) and in many technical applications (e.g. LÄS MER
8. Flexibility – a tool for chirality control in asymmetric catalysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the design and synthesis of ligands for asymmetric catalysis: palladium catalyzed allylic alkylations, and rho-dium and iridium catalyzed hydrogenations of olefins. Chirally flexible phosphepine ligands based on biphenyl were synthesized and their properties were studied. LÄS MER
9. Mass Transport Properties in Supramolecular Systems Studied by Diffusion and Relaxation NMR
Sammanfattning : This thesis shows how diffusion and relaxation NMR can be applied in various aspects to study mass transport in supramolecular systems. Information about these systems can be obtained, either by direct measurement of the molecules that are incorporated in a supramolecular structure, or via probe molecules, which indirectly gives information about the system. 10. Self-assembly in Melts of Block copolymer-based Systems Featuring Supramolecular Interactions
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is experimental investigation of self-assembly in solvent-free (ionic) macromolecular systems that contain block copolymer chains as the basic constituent component in combination with low molecular weight amphiphiles. In particular, especial attention is paid to study thoroughly a new class of block copolymer-based ionic supramolecules, named as Linear-b-AmphComb, that feature novel hierarchical self-assembly characteristics.
