  1. 1. The role of suppressor of fused in development and tumorigenesis in the mouse

    Författare :Karin Heby-Henricson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Embryonic development is a process that involves a number of evolutionarily well-conserved signaling cascades, including the hedgehog pathway. Mutations in components of this pathway have been identified in certain developmental disorders, and in many different kinds of cancers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of morphogen signalling during neural patterning in the Xenopus embryo

    Författare :Hooi Min Tan Grahn; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Suppressor-of-fused; Gli; β-Catenin; Neural; Xenopus; FGF; Signalling; HtrA1; RDH10; Retinol dehydrogenase; Retinoic acid; Spemann s organizer; Induction; Gradient;

    Sammanfattning : Morphogens such as Hedghog, Wnt, FGF, and retinoic acid are important signals whose concentrations need to be tightly regulated in the vertebrate embryo to ensure body axis development and formation of the central nervous system. We first show that the intracellular cytoplasmic protein XSufu acts as a dual regulator of Hedgehog (Hh) and Wnt signals during neural induction and patterning in the Xenopus embryo. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Repressing the hedgehog signalling pathway

    Författare :Jessica Svärd; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The Hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway is essential for metazoan development and aberrant activation of the pathway is found in tumours. Mutations in Hh pathway components are found in several tumour types, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and medulloblastoma (MB). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Stem cells and development : studies on SUFU and LGR5

    Författare :Maria Hölzl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Embryonic development and cancer formation appear quite different from each other at first glance, yet they share common characteristics such as the reliance on certain signalling pathways. The Hedgehog (HH) and WNT signalling cascades play key roles in a variety of developmental processes where deregulation of these pathways result in a diversity of birth defects. LÄS MER
