11. Nanostructured TiN/ZrAlN and HfAlN Thin Films : Effect of Structure on Mechanical Properties
Sammanfattning : Transition metal nitrides are a remarkable group of ceramic materials that offer exceptional properties such as high hardness, low tribological wear, excellent thermal stability, and high oxidation resistance. Alloys such as TiN, CrN, VN, ZrN, and HfN have been identified as ideal candidates for protective coatings on cutting tool inserts in the metal processing industry. LÄS MER
12. Nonlinear Optical Materials Structural Studies of Alkali Titanium Phosphates
Sammanfattning : Crystals are beautiful, not only as pieces of jewellery, but also for their intrinsic properties, which are of significant scientific and technological importance. Ferroelectric materials are extremely versatile, since they may be combined with piezoelectric or electrooptic devices for use as filters, oscillators, memories, light detectors, and displays. 13. On the Modelling of Train Induced Ground Vibrations with Analytical Methods
Sammanfattning : A novel analytical approach to model train induced ground vibrations is proposed. Integral transform solutions are combined with series solutions to obtain fast numericalalgorithms, where a particular designed boundary condition for finite regions is seen to enable the solution procedure. 14. Design of steel piles for integral abutment bridges
Sammanfattning : In 1999 research was started at Luleå University of Technology with the purpose to collect experiences from USA and UK on bridges with integral abutments and transfer the experience to Swedish conditions. Since then at least 20 integral bridges with one row of piles under each abutment have been built in Sweden and the European research project INTAB has been completed. LÄS MER
15. Electronic and Geometrical Structure of Phthalocyanines on Surfaces : An Electron Spectroscopy and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Study
Sammanfattning : Core- and Valence Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES), X-ray- and Ultraviolet-Visible Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS and UV-Vis), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations are used to study the electronic and geometrical structure of a class of macro-cyclic molecules, Phthalocyanines (Pc), on surfaces. These molecules are widely studied due to their application in many different fields. LÄS MER
