    Sammanfattning : Deep atmospheric convection in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool (IPWP) is a key driver of the Hadley and Walker Circulations that modulate the Asian-Australian monsoons and the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Temperature and rainfall seasonality, i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Potential of b-value Variations as Earthquake Precursors for Small and Large Events

    Författare :Paiboon Nuannin; Roland Roberts; Ota Kulhanek; Bjorn Lund; Federico Guendel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :General; Frequency magnitude distribution; b-values; rockbursts; Andaman-Sumatra region; Zinkgruvan mine; December 26; 2004 earthquake; ALLMÄNT;

    Sammanfattning : The potential of variations of b-values in the G-R relation, logN=a-bM as earthquake precursors for small events (rockbursts) in Zinkgruvan mine, Sweden and for tectonic (large) earthquakes in the Andaman-Sumatra region were investigated. The temporal frequency-magnitude distribution, b(t), of rockbursts in Zinkgruvan mine was examined using high quality data recorded during the period November 1996 to April 2004 with magnitude ranges from Mw= -2. 4. 4. Patterns and Processes of Evolution in Sundaland

    Författare :Robert-Jan den Tex; Jennifer A. Leonard; Lawrence R. Heaney; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; Genetics; Genetik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity in the tropics is disproportionately high compared to other habitats, and also under disproportionate threat from human impact. It is necessary to understand how this diversity evolved and how it is partitioned across space in order to preserve it. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The use of museum specimens in conservation genomics

    Författare :Johanna von Seth; Love Dalén; Karin Norén; Gernot Segelbacher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; conservation genomics; museum specimens; genomic erosion; diversity; inbreeding; mutational load; genetic drift; purging; population divergence; local extinction; population decline; Sumatran rhinoceros; kakapo; arctic fox; Chatham Island black robin; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : In the face of an increasing number of species being threatened by extinction, museum collections can constitute a powerful resource for acquiring genomic data of endangered taxa. By utilising datasets that combine genomes from present-day populations with those from historical timepoints, several questions relevant for conservation can be investigated. LÄS MER
