6. On metabolic networks and multi-omics integration
Sammanfattning : Cellular metabolism is a highly complex chemical system, involving thousands of interacting metabolites and reactions. The traditional approach to understanding metabolism has been that of reductionism; by isolating and carefully measuring the involved components, the goal has been to understand the whole as the sum of its parts. 8. Labeling, tagging and charging - Long standing issues in bioenergetics addressed with novel techniques
Sammanfattning : Understanding the molecular details of bioenergetic processes is fundamentally important. Defects in the mitochondrial energy metabolism can lead to untimely apoptosis and thus cause serious degenerative human diseases. LÄS MER
9. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed. 10. Strategies for Utilizing Biobased and Recycled Resources for Polylactide Plasticization
Sammanfattning : There are many aspects that should be considered to achieve truly "environmental friendly" and "sustainable" materials. These include the raw material resource, the energy consumption, the chemicals generated and used, the emissions during production, processing, transportation, disposal and so on. LÄS MER
