  1. 1. Chronic lateral instability of the ankle joint : natural course, pathophysiology and steroradiographic evaluation of conservative and surgical treatment

    Författare :Richard Löfvenberg; Per Renström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ankle-Joint-Instability; Kinematics; Ligament; Osteoarthritis; Orthosis; Proprioception; Radiology; Reaction time; Stereo-Photogrammetry; Subtalar; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic lateral instability of the ankle (CLI), defined as frequent sprains and recurrent giving way, difficulty in walking and running on uneven surface, is often connected with pain and swollen ankles. It occurs in 10 to 20 percent after acute ankle injuries. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Foot-Ankle Joints Responses. Epidemiology, Biomechanics and Mathematical Modeling

    Författare :Chantal S. Parenteau; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :mathematical models; biomechanics; range of motion; ankle injury; injury mechanisms; ligament failure; center of rotation; ankle and subtalar joints; ankle fracture;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to acquire better knowledge of foot-ankle injuries because of their increasing importance in car crashes. Three approaches were used: epidemiology, biomechanics and mathematical modeling. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biomechanical Consequences of Foot and Ankle Injury and Deformity: Kinematics and Muscle Function

    Författare :Ruoli Wang; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Eva Broström; Eriksson Anders; Toni Arndt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to discuss kinematics and muscle function changes due to foot and ankle injury or deformity. The first study aims to characterize gait patterns of subjects with a common lower limb injury, ankle fractures. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Biomechanical consequences of gait impairment at the ankle and foot : Injury, malalignment, and co-contraction

    Författare :Ruoli Wang; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Eva Broström; Eriksson Anders; Ilse Jonkers; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; muscle function; gait analysis; induced acceleration; foot kinematics; dynamic joint stiffness;

    Sammanfattning : The human foot contributes significantly to the function of the whole lower extremity during standing and locomotion. Nevertheless, the foot and ankle often suffer injuries and are affected by many musculoskeletal and neurological pathologies. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Long-term outcome of children with cerebral palsy undergoing selective dorsal rhizotomy

    Författare :Annika Lundkvist; Fysioterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; selective dorsal rhizotomy; outcomes; long-term follow-up; Cerebral palsy; children; function; physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to describe long-term development of functional outcomes in children with cerebral palsy undergoing selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) combined with physiotherapy and to evaluate measures used in follow-up. Five years after SDR muscle tone was reduced, passive range of motion (PROM) increased in hip, knee and foot, gross motor function measured by the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) improved as well as functional performance and independence by the Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory.
