16. Metal Films for Printed Electronics : Ink-substrate Interactions and Sintering
Sammanfattning : A new manufacturing paradigm may lower the cost and environmental impact of existing products, as well as enable completely new products. Large scale, roll-to-roll manufacturing of flexible electronics and other functionality has great potential. LÄS MER
17. Nitric oxide production by the intestinal mucosa during hypoperfusion
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is based on the concept that gastrointestinal blood hypoperfusion is a common phenomenon associated with critical illness. Furthermore, the development of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) is proposed to be initiated by gastrointestinal mucosal barrier dysfunction, allowing intestinal luminal contents to penetrate into the tissue and activate a systemic inflammatory response. 18. Heavy metals in municipal solid waste deposits
Sammanfattning : Extensive use of heavy metals in modern society influences routes followed by fluxes on the surface of the Earth. The changed flow paths may be harmful for the balance of biological systems at different levels, micro-organisms, human beings and whole ecosystems, since the toxicity of heavy metals is determined by their concentrations and chemical forms. 19. Density Functional Theory Calculations for Graphene-based Gas Sensor Technology
Sammanfattning : Nowadays, electronic devices span a diverse pool of applications, especially when getting smaller and smaller satisfying the more than Moore paradigm. To further develop this, studies focusing on material design toward electronic devices are crucial. LÄS MER
20. Living on the edge : effectiveness of buffer strips in protecting biodiversity on boreal riparian forests
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to evaluate the ecological consequences of buffer strip retention on riparian and terrestrial biodiversity. Earlier studies on forest buffer strips have evaluated their effectiveness in relation to water quality and aquatic biota. However, forests along streams are species rich habitats for many organism groups. LÄS MER
