  1. 16. Building blocks for polymer synthesis by enzymatic catalysis

    Författare :Stefan Semlitsch; Mats Martinelle; Sergio Riva; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Enzyme; Enzyme Engineering; Biocatalysis; Lipase; CalB; MsAcT; Substrate specificity; Selectivity; Polymer Chemistry; Polymer Synthesis; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : The search for alternatives to oil-based monomers has sparked interest for scientists to focus on the use of renewable resources for energy production, for the synthesis of polymeric materials and in other areas. With the use of renewable resources, scientists face new challenges to first isolate interesting molecules and then to process them. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Plant Phosphoinositide Kinases. A Study of PtdIns 4-kinases and a PtdIns 4-phosphate 5-kinase

    Författare :Tomas Westergren; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; regulation; plant phosphorylation; plasma membrane; lipid kinase; divalent ion; phosphoinositide; substrate specificity; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Phosphoinositides are of particular interest in signal transduction processes as they can be sequentially phosphorylated and used as precursors for the intracellular messengers inositol trisphosphate (InsP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG) that in turn affects calcium levels and protein kinase cascades, eventually leading to a physiological response. The activity and regulation of PtdIns 4-kinases and PtdInsP kinase was studied. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Redesign of substrate specificity of glutathione transferase and glutathione reductase : Enzyme engineering by directed mutagenesis, phage-display selection and DNA shuffling

    Författare :Lars O. Hansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Human glutathione transferase (GST) A1-1 was expressed in fusion with the phage gene IIIproduct and a library of phage-displayed GST mutants was constructed by randomization of fouractive-site residues. Variant GSTs were isolated by mechanism-based phage display selection, using an immobilized transition-state analog of a nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr) reaction. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Characterization of Epoxide Hydrolases from Yeast and Potato

    Författare :Lisa Tronstad-Elfström; Mikael Widersten; Michael Arand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Epoxide hydrolase; Catalytic residues; Active site; trans-stilbene oxide; Rapid kinetics; Active site tyrosyls; Enzyme mechanism; Lewis acid; X-ray crystallography; Substrate specificity; Unidentified ORF; α β hydrolase fold; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Epoxides are three-membered cyclic ethers formed in the metabolism of foreign substances and as endogenous metabolites. Epoxide hydrolases (EHs) are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of epoxides to yield the corresponding diols. LÄS MER

  5. 20. The cell biology and catalytic properties of the nutrient-induced signaling endoprotease Ssy5

    Författare :António Martins; Per O. Ljungdahl; Bruno André; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nutrient sensing; signal transduction; regulated proteolysis; endoprotease; serine protease; substrate specificity; subcellular fractionation; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cells continuously sense and respond to changes in the presence, quality and quantity of external and internal nutrients. Specific signaling proteases have been identified based on their roles in processing or destruction of distinct sets of downstream effector proteins in response to environmental cues. LÄS MER
