  1. 1. Substrate specificity of protein kinases studied with synthetic peptides

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Reet Toomik; Uppsala universitet.; [1997]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; protein kinase A; protein kinase C; substrate; peptide; specificity; stereospecificity; assay; SPOTS peptides; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medical and Physiological Chemistry; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concentrates on the substrate specificities of protein kinases A and C (PKA, PKC). Synthetic peptides are used for that purpose, both in soluble and cellulose membrane-bound form. The, stereospecificity of both protein kinases was studied with D-amino acid containing synthetic peptides. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Enzyme substrate solvent interactions a case study on serine hydrolases

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : KTH

    Författare :Linda Fransson; KTH.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lipase; esterase; specificity; TECHNOLOGY Bioengineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Reaction rates and selectivities were measured for transacylation of fatty acid esters in solvents catalysed by Candida antarctica lipase B and by cutinase from Humicola insolens. With these enzymes classical water-based enzymology can be expanded to many different solvents allowing large variations in interaction energies between the enzymes, the substrates and the surrounding. 3. 3. Haematopoietic Serine Proteases A Cleavage Specificity Analysis

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Michael Thorpe; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mast cell; cleavage specificity; phage display; chymase; serine protease; granzyme; fish protease;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells are innate immune cells, historically involved in allergy responses involving IgE. Through this, they have earned a reputation as a fairly detrimental cell type. Their beneficial roles remain somewhat enigmatic although they clearly have the ability to modulate the immune system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ribosomal RNA Modification Enzymes Structural and functional studies of two methyltransferases for 23S rRNA modification in Escherichia coli

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Avinash S. Punekar; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; ribosome biogenesis; ribosome assembly; ribosomal RNA; peptidyltransferase center; domain V; post-transcriptional modification; methyltransferases; S-adenosyl-methionine; RlmM; Cm2498; RlmJ; m6A2030; X-ray crystallography; substrate recognition; substrate specificity; catalytic mechanism; evolution; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Escherichia coli ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is post-transcriptionally modified by site-specific enzymes. The role of most modifications is not known and little is known about how these enzymes recognize their target substrates. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploiting enzyme promiscuity for rational design

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : KTH

    Författare :Cecilia Branneby; KTH.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Candida antarctica lipase B; alanine racemase; substrate specificity; reaction specificity; enzyme catalytic promiscuity; Biokemi; MEDICINE Chemistry Biochemistry; MEDICIN Kemi Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Enzymes are today well recognized in various industrial applications, being an important component in detergents, and catalysts in the production of agrochemicals, foods, pharmaceuticals, and fine chemicals. Their large use is mainly due to their high selectivity and environmental advantage, compared to traditional catalysts. LÄS MER
