  1. 1. Gene expression in human adipose tissue. Studies of leptin and genes selected by expression profiling

    Författare :Britt Gabrielsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :obesity; subcutaneous; omental; DNA microarray; sulfonylurea receptor; fibroblast; growth factors; complement system; fibroblast;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity, and in particular the amount of visceral adipose tissue, is correlated to development of type 2diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The aim of this thesis was to study genes expressed in humanadipose tissue that could be involved in regional adipose tissue homeostasis and/or obesity-associateddisease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Vaccine-induced aluminium allergy and long-lasting subcutaneous itching nodules

    Författare :Anette Gente-Lidholm; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood vaccine; Adverse event; Aluminium; Aluminium allergy; Itching nodules; Subcutaneous granulomas; Patch test; Tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Aluminium contact dermatitis is rare even though aluminium is frequently used in antiperspirants and sunscreens. Sensitisation to aluminium is mostly a side effect of aluminium-adsorbed vaccines. These can also induce long-lasting intensely itching subcutaneous nodules (granulomas) at the injection site. 3. 3. Interplay between hormones, nutrients and adipose depots in the regulation of insulin sensitivity : an experimental study in rat and human adipocytes

    Författare :Magdalena Lundgren; Jan Eriksson; Jonas Burén; Eva Degerman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; adipose tissue; cAMP; glucocorticoids; glucose; insulin; insulin resistance; lipolysis; subcutaneous fat; type 2 diabetes; visceral fat; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity and specifically central obesity is related to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and other components of the so-called metabolic syndrome. The aim of this study was to elucidate the interplay between hormones, nutrients and adipose depots in normal and insulin-resistant fat cell metabolism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development and characterization of an in vitro method for interaction studies between polymers and pharmaceuticals : Aiding in the development of new drug delivery systems

    Författare :Marcus Wanselius; Per Hansson; Magnus Bergström; Susanna Abrahmsén-Alami; Christian Pedersen; Anna Fureby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microgels; Subcutaneous administration; Drug delivery; Microfluidics; In vitro methodology; Method development; Biopharmaceuticals; Amphiphilic drugs; Polyelectrolytes; Hyaluronic acid; Peptides; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Polymers are a group of macromolecules used in formulations of pharmaceuticals, one example being the delivery system DC Bead™. Further, some of the most abundant and for drug delivery important constituents of the subcutaneous tissue are charged polymers (polyelectrolytes), e.g. collagen, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate.
