1. Photoelectron spectroscopy on strongly correlated systems
Sammanfattning : This work presents photoelectron spectroscopy data on somestrongly correlated systems. The electronic structure of the3dtransition metal oxides NiO and CoO have been studiedwith angle resolved and resonant photoemission. In the lattercase, both NiO and CoO show strong resonance effects at themetal absorption edges. LÄS MER
2. Antiferromagnets and Luttinger Liquids: Two Strongly Correlated Systems
Sammanfattning : Strongly correlated systems show a variety of intriguing properties and have been extensively studied over the years. In this thesis two strongly correlated systems are discussed: the two-dimensional antiferromagnet and the Luttinger liquid. The Luttinger liquid has attracted much interest as a paradigm of non-Fermi liquid behavior. LÄS MER
3. Theoretical methods for the electronic structure and magnetism of strongly correlated materials
Sammanfattning : In this work we study the interesting physics of the rare earths, and the microscopic state after ultrafast magnetization dynamics in iron. Moreover, this work covers the development, examination and application of several methods used in solid state physics. The first and the last part are related to strongly correlated electrons. 4. Holographic descriptions of collective modes in strongly correlated media
Sammanfattning : Solving the puzzle of high temperature superconductivity may be one of the most desired scientific breakthroughs of our time, as access to room temperature superconductivity could revolutionize society as we know it. In this thesis, we strive to increase the theoretical understanding of such matter, by studying the phase above, in temperature, the superconducting phase - the "strange metal". LÄS MER
5. Non-Linear Canonical Methods in Strongly Correlated Electron Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis some new ideas to perform the analysis of Strongly Correlated Electronic Systems (SCES) are developed. In particular the use of non-linear canonical transformations is considered thoroughly. LÄS MER
