1. Streptococcus pneumoniae : epidemiological, clinical and serological studies
Sammanfattning : A retrospective study of invasive pneumococcal disease in patients from Greater Göteborg in 1964- 1980 identified 125 cases of meningitis, 305 of pneumonia, 61 of septicemia with unknown focus, and 17 with other manifestations, all verified by cultures from normally sterile body fluids. The incidence was several times higher in infants and in the elderly than in any other age-group. LÄS MER

4. Antibiotic resistance and pathogenesis of Streptococci with focus on Group A Streptococci
Sammanfattning : Multi-drug resistant (MDR) infections remain the leading cause of death worldwide. MDR infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae (Spn), Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) and Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS) are considered global threats to human health due to increased spread of antibiotic resistance and limited treatment options. 5. Molecular epidemiology of streptococcus pneumoniae
Sammanfattning : Streptococcus pneumoniae, also named pneumococci, is often part of the normal flora in the nasopharynx of healthy children. However, pneumococci are also a major cause of morbidity and mortality world-wide, and colonization is required for pneumococci to cause severe invasive diseases such as septicaemia and meningitis.
