21. Heterogeneity in oligopoly : theories and tests
Sammanfattning : This dissertation consists of five separate chapters, of which the three first three are empirical and the last two are theoretical. Chapter 1: Competition in Interrelated Markets: An Empirical Study. (Co-authored with Marcus Asplund.)This chapter studies competition in small, concentrated and interrelated markets. LÄS MER
22. Learning in focus : rethinking the role of technology in medical education
Sammanfattning : Educational computer applications have flooded into all fields of education, especially during the past few decades. Medicine is one such domain where technology has overwhelmingly entered the educational sphere, pushed by policy-makers and leaders who thought better to embrace it before even considering it. 23. Multiple regulatory inputs for hierarchical control of phenol catabolism by Pseudomonas putida
Sammanfattning : Metabolically versatile bacteria have evolved diverse strategies to adapt to different environmental niches and respond to fluctuating physico-chemical parameters. In order to survive in soil and water habitats, they employ specific and global regulatory circuits to integrate external and internal signals to counteract stress and optimise their energy status. 24. Sustainability performance of blue-green infrastructure across seasons and with various designs
Sammanfattning : The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) affect societal development within multiple sectors, both strategically and at street level. For instance, SDG 6 and SDG 11 have contributed to a shift in urban stormwater management that has traditionally been pipe-based, including only control of runoff volumes, to a more multi-functional nature-based blue-green infrastructure (BGI), where"blue" areas are characterized by (temporarily or permanent) open water and "green" areas by vegetative systems. 25. Time-resolved Structural and Mechanistic Studies of Water Oxidation in Photosystem II : water here, water there, water everywhere
Sammanfattning : Oxygenic photosynthesis is undisputedly one of the most important chemical processes for human life on earth as it not only fills the atmosphere with the oxygen that we need to breathe, but also sustains the accumulation of biomass, which is not only used as nourishment but is also present in almost every aspect of our lives as building material, textiles in clothes and furniture, or even as living decorations to name a few.The photosynthetic water-splitting mechanism is catalyzed by a water:plastoquinone oxido-reductase by the name of photosystem II (PSII), which is embedded in the thylakoid membranes of plants, algae and cyanobacteria.
