1. Wind-wave interaction effects on offshore wind energy
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of the impacts of fast moving ocean surface waves on the aerodynamics of offshore wind turbines. The impacts of non-locally generated waves (swell) on the Marine Atmospheric BoundaryLayer (MABL) and thereby on offshore wind turbine aerodynamics are studied numerically by using Large Eddy Simulations and the Actuator Line Method. 2. Experimental study of bubble dynamics and transport
Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns experimental studies of bubble motion and the transport of large particles and bubbles. Bubbly flows are encountered in many engineering applications where the bubbles play an important role for the mass transfer between the phases, e.g. in stirred reactors. LÄS MER
3. Numerical study of flows related to aerated stirred tanks
Sammanfattning : The overall purpose with this work is to investigate the bubbly flow in a aerated stirred tank using numerical simulations. Aerated stirred tanks are commonly used in chemical processes for producing for example insulin and antibiotics. LÄS MER
4. Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Premixed and Partially Premixed Combustion
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach is used to study turbulent premixed and partially premixed combustion. The CFD approach is based on large eddy simulation (LES) in which the large-scale structures of the flow are resolved on a grid, leaving only the small-scale structures (subgrid scales) to be modeled. 5. Large Eddy Simulation of Complex Turbulent Flows
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the Large Eddy Simulation methodology and its application to predict complex turbulent flows at high Reynolds numbers, and at times also with high Mach numbers. The meaning of the word ?complex? refers both to the presence of complex flow phenomena and the, often, complex geometry of man-made devices restricting the flow. LÄS MER
