Sammanfattning : Evaluation of long-term side effects of treatment is important due to the growing number of childhood cancer survivors. How kidney function is affected over time needs to be clarified. LÄS MER
2. Genetic factors in childhood cancer. Associations between tumors in childhood and adulthood, and prevalence of germline TP53 mutations
Sammanfattning : The etiology of childhood cancer is largely unknown. Approximately 1-10% of all childhood tumors are associated with known cancer predisposition syndromes. However, the contribution may be underestimated due to the failure to detect patients with genetic susceptibility for cancer when relying on known family pattern and anomalies. LÄS MER
3. Going through magnetic resonance imaging - patients’ experiences and the value of information and preparation for adults and children
Sammanfattning : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is becoming an increasingly common form of exami¬nation for both adults and children. Although it is non-invasive and considered painless, both adults and children experience anxiety during the examination. The technique is sensitive to motion and for that reason many children are anaesthetised. LÄS MER
4. Functional and morphological MR studies in congenital cardiovascular malformations
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate new MR techniques permitting qualitative and quantitative analysis of cardiac function and measurement of velocity and flow, and later on contrast-enhanced MR angiography, techniques largely unexplored in children with CHD. Infants with tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect were examined pre-operatively. LÄS MER
5. Polyamine analogues inhibit neuroblastoma cell growth
Sammanfattning : Abstract Neuroblastoma is a highly malignant neoplasm found in children. Although children with high-risk neuroblastoma respond to chemotherapy, relapses are common and an estimated long-time survival prognosis is approximately 15%. Thus, there is a tremendous need for new chemotherapeutic drugs for the treatment for neuroblastoma. LÄS MER
