16. Future trends in urban stormwater quality : effects of changes in climate, catchment characteristics and processes and socio-economic factors
Sammanfattning : Climate change and progressing urbanization cause numerous environmental concerns, including the impacts on urban drainage. Such impacts were addressed during the last two decades with focus on hydraulic overloading of drainage systems and the means of overload remediation by stormwater management. LÄS MER
17. Biofiltration technologies for stormwater quality treatment
Sammanfattning : Due to high runoff volumes and peak flows, and significant contamination with (inter alia) sediment, metals, nutrients, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and salt, urban stormwater is a major cause of degradation of urban water ways. Since current urban drainage systems, which heavily rely on piped sewer networks, may not be sustainable, attempts are being made to develop and refine sustainable urban drainage solutions, notably in Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and Low Impact Development (LID) concepts. 18. Urban drainage and climate change : impact assessment
Sammanfattning : According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007), the global mean temperature has increased by 0,7 °C during the last 100 years and, as a consequence, the hydrological cycle has intensified with, for example, more intense rainfall events. As urban drainage systems have been developed over a long period of time and design criteria are based upon climatic characteristics, these changes will affect the systems and the city accordingly. 19. Microplastics in the urban environment : Concentrations and composition in stormwater sediments and UV-degradation of common litter
Sammanfattning : Microplastics (MPs) are small pieces of plastic material including tyre wear particles (TWPs) smaller than 5000 µm. One of the primary pathways through which MPs including TWPs enter aquatic and marine environments is stormwater runoff from urban areas. LÄS MER
20. Evaluating the transport and composition of gully pot sediments : Under changing anthropogenic activities and rainfall regimes
Sammanfattning : Gully pots are a fundamental runoff quality and quantity control measure installed in urban catchments around the world. However, their ubiquitous use in urban catchments also incurs a substantial resource demand in terms of routine maintenance if their continuous performance is to be assured. LÄS MER
