  1. 1. Environmental impact of peat mining : Development of storm water treatment methods

    Författare :Bjørn Kløve; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; drainage artificial floodplaines; phosphorus; suspended solids; nitrogen; erosion; peat mining; peak runoff controll; sedimentation; water treatment; water resources; hydrology; hydraulics; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Drainage of peatlands increases the transport of suspended solids (SS) and the leaching of nutrients to downstream receiving waters. Increased settling of peat and eutrophication of lakes has been noted in many studies downstream from peat mines. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Urban wastewater systems: From disposal to reuse. A study of different systems with focus on water and nutrients flows

    Författare :Justyna Czemiel Berndtsson; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Storm Water; Urban; Wastewater; Civil engineering; offshore technology; hydraulic engineering; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik; soil mechanics; pollution control; Environmental technology; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Nutrients;

    Sammanfattning : Urban wastewater systems are currently exposed to a major rethink dictated by new demands on resource management. It is postulated that next to providing efficient sanitation (preventing spread of pathogenic microorganisms) these systems should support resource reuse. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interaction of Hurricanes and Natural Coastal Features: Implications for Storm Damage Reduction

    Författare :Ty Wamsley; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Louisiana; Barrier island; Vegetation; Flooding; Waves; Storm surge; Hurricanes; Mathematical modeling; Storm damage reduction;

    Sammanfattning : It is generally acknowledged that wetlands and barrier islands can reduce surge and waves. However, while a general qualitative understanding of these interactions is available in the scientific literature, quantification of these interactions is lacking and has previously been based on limited data of relatively poor quality. 5. 5. Assessment of stormwater and snowmelt quality based on water management priorities and the consequent water quality parameters

    Författare :Helen Galfi; Maria Viklander; Jiri Marsalek; Helene Österlund; Jon M. Hathaway; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stormwater quality; indicator bacteria; water quality assessment; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Stormwater and snowmelt pollution contributes to degradation of quality of the receiving waters. For assessing such impacts, it is effective to focus on specific causes of degradation, as done in this study of the quality of stormwater and snowmelt discharges into the receiving waters serving for supply of raw drinking water and water-based recreation.
