  1. 11. Fuel Ethanol Production from Corn Stover: Optimization of Steam Pretreatment and Improvement of Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation

    Författare :Karin Öhgren; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fuels and explosives technology; petrochemistry; Carbochemistry; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemical technology and engineering; Energiforskning; corn stover; Energy research; prehydrolysis; enzymatic hydrolysis; SSF; SO2; steam pretreatment; Ethanol production; Petrokemi; bränslen; sprängämnen; pentose fermentation;

    Sammanfattning : Fuel ethanol, produced from biomass, could well be tomorrow's replacement for gasoline. This thesis deals with the production of fuel ethanol from corn stover using an enzymatic process consisting of the following main steps: steam pretreatment of the raw material, enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation of the sugars and ethanol refining. Sammanfattning : In view of global climate change and the increasing energy demand there is a need for renewable energy resources. This thesis discusses an energy-driven biorefinery concept based on the agricultural residues corn stover and wheat straw. The work is divided into two main parts. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Biogas Production from Citrus Wastes and Chicken Feather : Pretreatment and Co-digestion

    Författare :Gergely Forgács; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anaerobic digestion; pretreatments; co-digestion; economic analyses; citrus wastes; feather; Energi; material; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion is a sustainable and economically feasible waste management technology, which lowers the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs), decreases the soil and water pollution, and reduces the dependence on fossil fuels. The present thesis investigates the anaerobic digestion of waste from food-processing industries, including citrus wastes (CWs) from juice processing and chicken feather from poultry slaughterhouses. 5. 15. Diffusion of large molecules in steam-exploded wood

    Författare :Patric Kvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood; Large Molecules; Diffusion; LBM; Steam Explosion; FRAP;

    Sammanfattning : The diffusion of large molecules in wood pre-treated with steam explosion is important to understand in the context of the materials biorefinery. Steam explosion is a pretreatment method used to both open up the internal structure of wood and increase the accessibility of the cell walls of the wood with the use of high-pressure steam, and it is considered an energy-efficient method.
