  1. 1. Power System Stability Enhancement Using Shunt-connected Power Electronic Devices with Active Power Injection Capability

    Författare :Mebtu Bihonegn Beza; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Power Oscillation Damping POD ; energy storage; Adaptive estimation; Static Synchronous Compensator STATCOM ; Recursive Least Square RLS ; Transient Stability Enhancement TSE ; FACTS; Static Var Compensator SVC ;

    Sammanfattning : Power electronic devices such as Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), both in shunt and series configuration, are widely used in the power system for power flow control, to increase the loading capability of an existing line and to increase the security of the system by enhancing its transient stability. Among the shunt-connected FACTS controllers family, the Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) and the Static Var Compensator (SVC) are two key devices for reinforcing the stability of the AC power system. 2. 2. Voltage source converters for mitigation of flicker caused by arc furnaces

    Författare :Tomas Larsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis deals with flicker and how to mitigate it bymeans of a Voltage Source Converter (VSC). Flicker, orvariations in illumination intensity, is above a certain levelvery annoying. The background to flicker is voltage amplitudefluctuating in certain frequency intervals caused bytime-fluctuating loads. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling, Model Validation and Uncertainty Identification for Power System Analysis

    Författare :Tetiana Bogodorova; Luigi Vanfretti; Konstantin Turitsyn; Francisco Gonzalez-Longatt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Power system modelling; model validation; parameter identification; uncertainty identification; Modelica; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : It is widely accepted that correct system modeling and identification are among the most important issues power system operators face when managing instability and post-contingency scenarios. The latter is usually performed involving special computational tools that allow the operator to forecast, prevent system failure and take appropriate actions according to protocols for different contingency cases in the system.
