  1. 1. Quantum State Analysis : Probability theory as logic in Quantum mechanics

    Författare :Anders Månsson; Anders Karlsson; Gunnar Björk; Ingemar Bengtsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; quantum; quantum mechanics; state; state analysis; probability; probability theory; logic; Photonics; Fotonik;

    Sammanfattning : Quantum mechanics is basically a mathematical recipe on how to construct physical models. Historically its origin and main domain of application has been in the microscopic regime, although it strictly seen constitutes a general mathematical framework not limited to this regime. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sequential Monte Carlo methods for conjugate state-space models

    Författare :Anna Wigren; Fredrik Lindsten; Lawrence Murray; Riccardo Sven Risuleo; Simon Maskell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sequential Monte Carlo; Particle filter; Markov chain Monte Carlo; Conjugacy; State-space model; Probabilistic programming; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Bayesian inference in state-space models requires the solution of high-dimensional integrals, which is intractable in general. A viable alternative is to use sample-based methods, like sequential Monte Carlo, but this introduces variance into the inferred quantities that can sometimes render the estimates useless. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical Simulation as a Tool for Studying Waves and Radiation in Space

    Författare :Lars Kristen Selberg Daldorff; Bo Thide; Francesco Califano; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; space physics; plasma physics; kinetic plasma; plasma simulations; beam instabilities; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Plasma physics governs the area of interactions between charged particles. As 99% of the visible universe is in a plasma state, it is an important topic in astronomy and space physics, where we already at an altitude of 60 km reach the plasma environment surrounding our planet in the form of the ionosphere. 4. 4. Machine learning with state-space models, Gaussian processes and Monte Carlo methods

    Författare :Andreas Svensson; Thomas B. Schön; Fredrik Lindsten; Carl Edward Rasmussen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Machine learning; State-space models; Gaussian processes; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Numbers are present everywhere, and when they are collected and recorded we refer to them as data. Machine learning is the science of learning mathematical models from data. Such models, once learned from data, can be used to draw conclusions, understand behavior, predict future evolution, and make decisions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Realistic simulations of delta wing aerodynamics using novel CFD methods

    Författare :Stefan Görtz; Arthur Rizzi; Miguel Visbal; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; CFD; aerodynamics; flow physics; steady; unsteady; delta wing; vortical flow; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall goal of the research presented in this thesis is to extend the physical understanding of the unsteady external aerodynamics associated with highly maneuverable delta-wing aircraft by using and developing novel, more efficient computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools. More specific, the main purpose is to simulate and better understand the basic fluid phenomena, such as vortex breakdown, that limit the performance of delta-wing aircraft. LÄS MER
