11. Sponsors of War : State Support for Rebel Groups in Civil Conflicts
Sammanfattning : Many civil wars are illustrative of wider international tensions and connections that transcend state borders. States often intervene to influence the trajectory and outcome of civil conflicts by providing external support to warring parties. LÄS MER
12. Utilizing Channel State Information in Space-Time Coding : Performance Limits and Transmission Techniques
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with performance limits and transmissiontechniques for a wireless communication link where at least thetransmitter is equipped with an antenna array and moreover hasaccess to possibly imperfect channel state information. An antenna array on the transmit side provides the systemwith an extra spatial dimension that can be utilized for codingboth in the spatial as well as the temporal domain. 13. Global stability and feedback control of boundary layer flows
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the stability of generic boundary layer flows is studied from a global viewpoint using optimization methods. Global eigenmodes of the incompressible linearized Navier-Stokes equations are computed using the Krylov subspace Arnoldi method. LÄS MER
14. On Observer-Based Control of Nonlinear Systems
Sammanfattning : Filtering and reconstruction of signals play a fundamental role in modern signal processing, telecommunications, and control theory and are used in numerous applications. The feedback principle is an important concept in control theory. LÄS MER
15. The brain-pituitary-gonadal axis of the three-spined stickleback, Gasterosteus aculeatus
Sammanfattning : The seasonal reproduction of the three-spined stickleback is stimulated by long day photoperiod. As in other vertebrates, the reproductive system of stickleback is regulated by the brain-pituitary-gonadal (BPG) axis which is largely controlled by feedback effects. Both negative and positive feedback effects on the BPG axis have been found in fish. LÄS MER
