  1. 1. Evaluation of physical work capacity and leg muscle fatigue during exhaustive stair ascending evacuation

    Författare :Amitava Halder; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :Stair climbing; Energy expenditure; Oxygen consumption; Electromyography; Muscle fatigue;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractPhysical exhaustion can constrain human ascending work capacity and performance during emergency evacuation on stairs. The overall aim of this research was to explore and compare stair ascending capacities and physiological limitations during two different strategies: self-preferred pace in three different public stairways in the field, and controlled pace in a laboratory on a stair machine. 2. 2. The Fight on the Flights : Emergency evacuations – human physiological performance, leg muscle activity and gait biomechanics during exhaustive stair and slope ascent

    Författare :Amitava Halder; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Stair climbing evacuation; Physical work capacity; Physiological constraints; Endurance; Energy expenditure; Oxygen consumption; Electromyography; Muscle fatigue; Incline gait biomechanics; Ground reaction forces; Required coefficient of friction;

    Sammanfattning : Physical exhaustion can constrain stair ascending capacity during emergency evacuation. The overall aim of this research was to explore and compare stair ascending capacities and physiological limitations when using two different modes: 1) self-preferred pace on three different public stairways, and 2) four machine-controlled paces on a stair machine corresponding to different percentages of maximal aerobic capacity (V̇O2max). 3. 3. Outcome Measures of Functioning and Physical Activity in Patients with Low Back Pain - Exemplified in Patients Who Undergo Lumbar Fusion Surgery

    Författare :Max Jakobsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Health outcome assessment; Reliability; Validity; Responsiveness; Minimal important change; Accelerometry; Predictors; Prognostic factors; Lumbar spine surgery;

    Sammanfattning : INTRODUCTION: Chronic low back pain (LBP) can negatively affect health in terms of disability and decreased levels of functioning and physical activity. Chronic LBP due to degenerative disc disease (DDD) is a subgroup of LBP for which lumbar fusion surgery (LFS) is a treatment option. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Muscle strength and motor function in neuromuscular disorders. A clinical study of children and adolescents with spinal muscular atrophy, myotonic dystrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and amyoplasia

    Författare :Anna-Karin Kroksmark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :muscle involvement; muscle function; motor performance; contractures; spinal muscular atrophy; myotonic dystrophy; Duchenne muscular dystrophy; amyoplasia; arthrogryposis multiplex congenita;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The aims of this study were to investigate muscle strength and motor function in children and adolescents with four neuromuscular disorders; 1) spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), 2) myotonic dystrophy (DM), 3) Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD and 4) the amyoplasia form of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. Further: 1) to analyze compensatory maneuvers due to muscle weakness in individuals with SMA, 2) to correlate motor function in individuals with DM with the size of the mutation, 3) to evaluate the long-term side effects and effects on muscle strength, motor function, vital capacity and development of scoliosis in boys with DMD treated with low-dose prednisone, and 4) to investigate how muscle strength and joint contractures affect motor function in individuals with amyoplasia and to relate current status to joint position at birth. 5. 5. Sagittal plane knee translation in healthy and ACL deficient subjects : a methodological study in vivo with clinical implications

    Författare :Anil Vergis; Jon Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :anterior cruciate ligament; electrogoniometer system; gait; knee; kinematics; motion analysis; step ascent; step descent; translation; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : This study on human subjects, comprises of four cross sectional and one prospective cohort study. The general purpose of this work was to develop a technique for measuring in vivo, sagittal anterior-posterior translatory motions in the knee joint using a computerized electrogoniometer (CA-4000, OS Inc., Hayward CA, USA).
