  1. 11. Mechanisms and Phenomena in Braking and Gripping

    Författare :Lars Hammerström; Staffan Jacobson; XXX XXX; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Materials science; Friction; Brake; Texture; Squeal; Materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Applications relying on a high static friction include various types of fixtures, couplings, bolted joints, torsion joints, etc. The common characteristic of these applications is that they rely on the friction force to maintain the relative position of two mating surfaces. 2. 12. Additive Manufacturing of Ni-Fe Superalloys : Exploring the Alloying Envelope and the Impact of Process on Mechanical Properties

    Författare :Carl Johan Hassila; Urban Wiklund; Staffan Jacobson; Johan Moverare; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; alloying for AM; PBF-LB; microstructure; tensile and impact testing; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing of metals has received a lot of attention in the last decade as this family of manufacturing processes allows the manufacturing of complicated geometries which would be difficult to produce using conventional manufacturing techniques. Additive manufacturing of the Ni-Fe based superalloys 625 and 718 using the Powder Bed Fusion – Laser Beam (PBF-LB) process is facilitated by the fact that these alloys were developed as weldable alternatives to other high-strength, high-temperature Ni-based superalloys. 3. 13. The Positive Effect of Nitrogen Alloying of Tool Steels Used in Sheet Metal Forming

    Författare :Irma Heikkilä; Staffan Jacobson; Sture Hogmark; Pavel Krakhmalev; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :galling; nitrogen; tool steel; sliding contact; metal forming; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Sammanfattning : Sheet metal forming processes are mechanical processes, designed to make products from metal sheet without material removal. These processes are applied extensively by the manufacturing industry to produce commodities such as heat exchangers or panels for automotive applications. They are suitable for production in large volumes. LÄS MER

  4. 14. On Transfer of Work Material to Tools

    Författare :Jannica Heinrichs; Staffan Jacobson; Urban Wiklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Tribology; Friction; Forming; Cutting; Galling; Material transfer; Tribological coatings; Surface finish; Micro mechanisms; Aluminium; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Sammanfattning : Bulk forming and cutting are widely used to shape metals in industrial production. Bulk forming is characterized by large strains, extensive plastic deformation and large surface expansions. Cutting is characterized by high speeds, high pressures and high temperatures. LÄS MER

  5. 15. New insights into lubricated tribological contacts

    Författare :Elin Larsson; Staffan Jacobson; Åsa Kassman Rudolphi; Jannica Heinrichs; Philip Shipway; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribology; friction; wear; lubrication; fuel additive; boric acid; tribofilm; transport; fuel efficiency; surface analysis; grease; LiX grease; PP grease; fretting; electrical contacts; cross section; copper; silver; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Sammanfattning : The emissions of carbon dioxide, CO2, must rapidly be reduced to avoid severe climate change. Tribology-related solutions can be an important part in reducing these emissions. The aim of this thesis is to improve the fundamental knowledge in two tribology-related fields, both concerning lubrication, to enable such solutions in the future. LÄS MER
