  1. 1. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research

    Författare :Rafeef Abu-Gharbieh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-linear diffusion filtering; optically dense sprays; curve evolution propagation; image sequence analysis; laser induced fluorescence; geodesic paths; level sets; LIF; optical density; spray characterization; flame propagation; laser; particle image velocimetry; spectroscopy; combustion engines; spray diagnostics; Mie scattering; flame fronts; laser attenuation; tracking; combustion diagnostics; curve matching; combustion; laser sheet imaging; PIV; time resolved imaging; segmentation;

    Sammanfattning : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future. 2. 2. Optical Diagnostics of Soot in Combusting Sprays

    Författare :Raul Lima Ochoterena; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Optical diagnostics.; Laser Induced Incandescence LII ; Elastic Light Scattering ELS ; Soot formation; Flame temperature; Spray combustion; Light Extinction LE ;

    Sammanfattning : Optical diagnostics in combusting diesel sprays were carried out in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature (HP/HT) spray rig at conditions similar to those in an internal combustion engine, reaching up to 100 bar and 630 ◦ C. Spray development studies and combustion characterisation were done by high speed shadowgraphs that were digitally processed to measure the start of combustion, break-up, droplets and vapour penetration. 3. 3. Pain in pediatric oncology : Diagnostics and treatment

    Författare :Gustaf Ljungman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; adolescence; child; pain; neoplasms; cancer; educational needs; pediatric procedure sedation; anxiety procedure; administration intranasal; conscious sedation; general anesthesia; lumbarpuncture; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Pain treatment is a crucial aspect in the care of children with cancer and several studies demonstrate inefficient pain treatment. The general aims of the thesis were to identify the current pain problems in pediatric oncology, and to see whether specific interventions could improve the situation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Optical and laser diagnostics : The versatility of Imaging

    Författare :Alexios Matamis; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; methanol; COMBUSTION; diesel; schlieren; spray; imaging; pilot-injection; high-speed imaging; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Matamis;

    Sammanfattning : Optical and laser diagnostics is a field where optical techniques are developed that offer remote, non-intrusive measurements in order to characterise a system. Imaging is a big part of this field and the versatility it offers makes it a great tool in the hands of researchers and in practical applications. LÄS MER

  5. 5. High Repetition Rate Laser Diagnostics for Combustion Applications

    Författare :Johan Sjöholm; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spray; diesel; optical engine; simultaneous; laser-induced fluorescence; fuel tracer; SLIPI; Raman; LII; laser diagnostic; combustion; high repetition rate; high-speed; PLIF; multi-YAG; LIF; fuel jet; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Sjöholm;

    Sammanfattning : High repetition rate laser diagnostics has proven to be a useful tool for studying combustion phenomena. Laser techniques are, in general, relatively non-intrusive and have the potential to measure specific species at very low concentrations and with extremely high temporal resolution. LÄS MER
