11. Material characterization of AA7075-T651 deformed at different temperatures and strain rates
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, the mechanical response and the microstructure evolution in aluminum alloy (AA) 7075 in its T651 heat treated state have been studied through mechanical tests at varied conditions of strain rate and temperature.First, compression tests were performed on AA7075-T651 samples at room temperature (RT), 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 °C (melting temperature of AA7075 is ~635 °C) with two comparatively low strain rates of 0. 12. Composites studied by moiré methods and high speed photography
Sammanfattning : Fibre composites are today used as construction material in a growing number of applications. Carbon fibres/epoxy matrix composites are employed in high performance applications as aircrafts where a high stiffness/weight ratio is important. LÄS MER
13. Identification of Viscoelastic Materials by Use of Wave Propagation Methods
Sammanfattning : Complex moduli and Poisson’s ratio have been estimated using extensional and torsional wave experiments. The data were used for assessment of linearity and isotropy of two polymers, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polypropylene (PP). The responses of both materials were found to be close to linear and isotropic. LÄS MER
14. Frictional studies and high strain rate testing of wood under refining conditions
Sammanfattning : When producing thermomechanical pulps (TMP), wood chips and fiber material are loaded mechanically in a disc-refiner to separate the fibers and to make them flexible. In the process, much of the energy supplied is transferred to the fiber material through cyclic compression, shear and friction processes. LÄS MER
15. FE-Simulation of Metal Cutting Processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the finite element (FE) simulation of machining processes. Realistic simulation of metal cutting processes enables a more resource-efficient machinability assessment for a given material in terms of cutting forces, chip shape and tool wear at different ranges of cutting conditions.
