1. Optimisation and Application of Intense High-Order Harmonic Pulses
Sammanfattning : The high-order harmonics that are created in the interaction between an intense laser pulse (around 1014 W/cm2) and a gas medium are studied. The high-order harmonic radiation is a relatively new source of coherent radiation in the short wavelength range. LÄS MER
2. Fluorescence as a biological feedback signal for energy optimising spectra for greenhouse LED-illumination
Sammanfattning : The introduction of LED-lighting for greenhouses has enabled new ways of controlling the light, both spectrum and intensity, to save energy and increase crop production. We have investigated a new method of automatically tuning the spectrum based on biological feedback. LÄS MER
3. Prediction and Optimisation of Traffic Noise. A Study on Noise Barriers and Shielded Areas
Sammanfattning : The main contribution of noise levels in cities is today road traffic. The strongest source for all road vehicles is most often the tyre-road contact. This source position close to the ground is fortunate with respect to secondary noise abatement measures, such as absorbing road surfaces or noise barriers. LÄS MER
4. Effective use of X rays in diagnostic radiology : Guidance for the optimisation of image quality and absorbed dose in the patient by use of a Monte Carlo computational model of the imaging chain
Sammanfattning : The primary objective of this thesis is to give guidance for the reduction of absorbed dose in the patient and the improvement of image quality by the optimisation of the various parameters which control the performance of the radiological imaging system. The optimisation means that image quality (contrast in screen-film imaging and signal-to-noise ratio in digital imaging) is kept constant and combinations of operating parameters which yields the lowest mean absorbed dose in the patient is determined. 5. Green packaging development in theory and practice
Sammanfattning : In the light of the environmental challenges society is facing it is important thatboth products and their packaging systems are optimised from an environmental perspective. Previous research highlights that environmental optimisation of packaging requires an integrated assessment of product and packaging together. LÄS MER
