11. Free Molecular and Metal Clusters Studied by Synchrotron Radiation Based Electron Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this Thesis is the experimental characterization of the electronic and geometric structures of objects called clusters. A cluster consists of a finite group of bound atoms or molecules. Due to its finite size, it may present completely different properties than those of the isolated atom and the bulk. LÄS MER
12. Fingerprints of light-induced molecular transients : from quantum chemical models of ultrafast x-ray spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Absorption of sunlight generates renewable electricity and powers the growth of plants, but also causes severe damage both to synthetic materials and biological tissue. The wildly varying outcomes of these light-induced processes are ultimately determined by much slighter differences in their underlying reaction pathways, induced by the transient properties of short-lived and miniscule molecules; a powerful approach to their detection and characterization is offered by ultrafast x-ray spectroscopy, with identification of spectral fingerprints and further guidance from quantum chemical models. 13. Photoelectron Spectroscopy of High Temperature Superconductors and Related Compounds
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the high temperature superconductors (HTSC) Ba0.6K0.4BiO3, La2CuO4+x, Bi2Sr2Ca1-xYxCu2O 8+d, Bi2Sr2CuO6+d as well as semiconducting Ba0.9K0. LÄS MER
14. Dynamics of multiphoton processes in nonlinear optics and x-ray spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : New generations of ultrashort and intense laser pulses as well ashigh power synchrotron radiation sources and x-ray free electronlasers have promoted fast developments in nonlinear optics andx-ray spectroscopy. The new experimental achievements and the appearance of varieties of novelnonlinear phenomena call for further development of theories. 15. Infrared and Photoelectron Spectroscopic Studies of Adsorbates on Solid Surfaces: Experiments and DFT Calculations
Sammanfattning : In general, the more complex and real a system is, with all its interactions with solvents and contaminations etc., the harder it is to accurately model it and reproduce the experimental results by calculations. LÄS MER
