1. Spectral Image Processing with Applications in Biotechnology and Pathology
Sammanfattning : Color theory was first formalized in the seventeenth century by Isaac Newton just a couple of decades after the first microscope was built. But it was not until the twentieth century that technological advances led to the integration of color theory, optical spectroscopy and light microscopy through spectral image processing. LÄS MER
2. Dicke narrowing and speed-dependent effects in dispersion signals : Influence on assessment of concentration and spectral parameters by noise-immune cavity-enhanced optical heterodyne molecular spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Laser spectroscopic techniques have, during the last decades, demonstrated an extraordinary capability for sensitive detection of molecular constituents in gas phase. Since spectra from such techniques constitute unique and characteristic signatures for each type of species, these techniques enable investigations of molecular structures as well as detection of the presence of species in a gas mixture. 3. Spectral analysis and magnetic resonance spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : This dissertation is concerned with nonparametric approaches for spectral analysis (SA) and algorithms for magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) data analysis.A method to obtain the optimal smoothing window for the class of SA methods based on local smoothing of the periodogram is proposed. 4. Improved mass accuracy in MALDI-TOF-MS analysis
Sammanfattning : Mass spectrometry (MS) is an important tool in analytical chemistry today, particularly in the field of proteomics where identification of proteins is the central activity. The focus in this thesis has been to improve the mass accuracy of MS-analyses in order to improve the possibility for unambiguous identification of proteins. LÄS MER
5. Environmental Monitoring by Multi-Spectral Lidar Techniques
Sammanfattning : Multi-spectral lidar (light detection and ranging) techniques have been developed and employed in various environmental studies, ranging from concentration mapping of volcanic emissions to fluorescence imaging of historical monuments. In both absorption measurements of gaseous species and fluorescence imaging of stones, multiple wavelength excitation and multiple wavelength detection have been applied. LÄS MER
