    Sammanfattning : As a contribution to the emerging field of practice-based research in the arts, this thesis aims to activate space, experience and the concept in-between. As the in-between cannot be defined ahead of the rhythmic process it carries out and of which it is a part – a rhythm inherent in the city itself and in knowledge production – it is necessary to produce rhythmic relations between bodies, sites and concepts.     Sammanfattning : This thesis analyzes works by the contemporary German author Katja Lange-Müller, focusing on their representations of borders and in-between spaces. Thus, the thesis offers a new perspective on Lange-Müller’s work, which, in the few previous studies, has mainly been interpreted within the context of ‘subversive writing’ in the German Democratic Republic in the 1980s. In an interplay between literary configuration as a form of arts-based research and analysis based in philosophy of education, this dissertation explores the in-between of the educational relation within a specific human–horse relationship in order to examine, re-symbolise and re-negotiate the very presumptions of what pedagogy can become.
