  1. 1. Buildning a midwifery profession in South Asia

    Författare :Malin Bogren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; midwifery profession; midwife; midwifery education; midwifery strategy; South Asia; Complex Adaptive Systems; mixed-methods approach;

    Sammanfattning : Midwives are key professionals in improving maternal and child health globally, but establishing a midwifery profession in low-income countries is proving to be difficult. The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the situation and building of a midwifery profession in South Asia, and to reveal how influential actors are connected to one another in the building of a profession, especially in Nepal and Bangladesh. 2. 2. On the intra-seasonal to decadal climate variability over South-Asia

    Författare :Faisal Saeed Syed; Heiner Körnich; Erik Kjellström; Jagadish Shukla; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; South Asia; monsoon; western disturbances; fog; climate variability; climate dynamics; teleconnections; ENSO; NAO; CGT; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : South Asia, a land of contrasting landscapes, seasons and climates, is highly vulnerable to climate variability over intra-seasonal to decadal time scales. In winter, precipitation over the western parts of south Asia and fog over the Indo-Gangetic (IG) plains are the two major climatic features. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Isotope-based constraints on sources and processing of black carbon, carbon monoxide, and brown carbon in South Asia

    Författare :Sanjeev Dasari; Örjan Gustafsson; August Andersson; Jos Lelieveld; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; South Asia; Air Pollution; Short-Lived Pollutants; Atmospheric Abundance; Model-Observation Mismatch; Radiocarbon; Stable Isotopes; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The highly populated South Asian region is facing rapid economic growth and urbanization. Here, both climate- and health-affecting atmospheric agents such as light-absorbing aerosols black carbon (BC) and brown carbon (BrC), trace gas carbon monoxide (CO), are often found in relatively high levels compared to in other regions. 4. 4. Dual isotope (13C-14C) Studies of Water-Soluble Organic Carbon (WSOC) Aerosols in South and East Asia

    Författare :Elena N. Kirillova; Örjan Gustafsson; Maria Cristina Facchini; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric aerosols; water-soluble organic carbon; carbon isotopes; South Asia; East Asia; source apportionment; aerosol aging; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric aerosols may be emitted directly as particles (primary) or formed from gaseous precursors (secondary) from different natural and anthropogenic sources. The highly populated South and East Asia regions are currently in a phase of rapid economic growth to which high emissions of carbonaceous aerosols are coupled. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Understanding regional peace and security: A framework for analysis

    Författare :Rodrigo Tavares; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; security; peace; regions; regional peace and security cluster; regional organizations; South Asia; Europe; Kashmir; Olivenza; Gibraltar;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to build an analytical framework for understanding regional peace and security. Building on important insights from other theoretical approaches and drawing from empirical data, the framework aims to problematize and understand: (a) how peace and security cluster at the regional level, (b) the components of each regional cluster, and (c) the linkages that exist between them.
