1. A small scale wastewater treatment system adapted to nutrient recovery in cold climate : performance and possible sorbents
Sammanfattning : Waterbodies are impaired by, among other things, discharge from onsite small- scale wastewater (WW) treatment systems. Hence, these systems need to be updated to improve the effluent quality and the reuse of nutrients within society. LÄS MER
2. An add-on filter technique to improve micropollutant removal and water quality in on-site sewage treatment facilities
Sammanfattning : Onsite sewage treatment facilities (OSSFs) in Sweden currently release significant amounts of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) into groundwater or/and receiving water bodies. Micropollutants (MPs) have been found in both surface water and groundwater, indicating insufficient removal of MPs by OSSFs. LÄS MER
3. Engineered Wetlands and Reactive Bed Filters for Treatment of Landfill Leachate
Sammanfattning : The main objectives of this study were to investigate (i) anovel wetland treatment technology and (ii) selected bed filtermedia for the removal of contaminants from landfill leachate. Areview of the literature concerning experiences of the use ofconstructed wetlands (CW) for the removal of nitrogen fromlandfill leachate, showed that at least three groups oftreatment systems are in practice: sub-surface flow wetlands, hybrid systems (a combination of vertical and horizontal flowwetlands) and, compact constructed wetland (CCW). 4. Sustainable porous organic materials : Synthesis, sorption properties and characterization
Sammanfattning : The resources available to us humans, including metals, minerals, biomass, air, water, and anything else on the planet, are being used at an increasing rate. This anthropogenic use of resources both depletes the resources and has negative impacts on other resources, e.g. the biosphere. LÄS MER
5. Design and Optimization of CO2 sorbents for Point Source Emissions and Direct Air Capture
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a comprehensive study on the design and optimization of CO2 sorbents, targeting two distinct applications: CO2 capture from point source emissions and Direct Air Capture (DAC). The research first introduces Na2HfO3 as a potential CO2 sorbent for point source emissions, using the molten salt effects of Na2CO3 and the thermal stability of HfO2. LÄS MER
