11. Development and Applications of Detailed Kinetic Models for the Soot Particle Size Distribution Function
Sammanfattning : Two different mathematical methods of implementing a detailed kinetic soot model have been employed in this work. The theoretical description of the soot modeling employed in this work is divided into three parts. Initially a detailed kinetic soot model is described from a chemistry and physics perspective. 12. Late Cycle Soot Oxidation in Diesel Engines
Sammanfattning : Diesel engines are the most common engine technology used in transportation. Its widespread use comes from its inherent high efficiency and its relative low cost. It suffers from pollutant emission issues, however, that need detailed understanding of their origins to meet the strictest current and upcoming emission standards. LÄS MER
13. Application of laser diagnostics for two-phase imaging of fuel sprays and quantitative measurements of combustion radicals and soot

14. Ice out of Fire : Ice and cloud condensation nucleation of aerosol particles emitted from controlled soot generation and combustion of renewable fuels
Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles, small solid or liquid particles suspended in a gas, are found everywhere in the atmosphere. Air pollution from such particles, mainly soot from combustion-derived activity is a leading cause of premature deaths in the world and have a large effect on the climate. LÄS MER
15. Optical Diagnostics of Soot in Combusting Sprays
Sammanfattning : Optical diagnostics in combusting diesel sprays were carried out in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature (HP/HT) spray rig at conditions similar to those in an internal combustion engine, reaching up to 100 bar and 630 ◦ C. Spray development studies and combustion characterisation were done by high speed shadowgraphs that were digitally processed to measure the start of combustion, break-up, droplets and vapour penetration.
