  1. 11. Pitfalls in β-cell ion imaging with fluorescent indicators and their use for real-time detection of somatostatin secretion

    Författare :Mingyu Yang; Anders Tengholm; Enming Zhang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; β-cells; cytoplasmic Ca²⁺; cytoplasmic pH; fluorescent indicators; pancreatic islets; R-GECO1; somatostatin; type 2 diabetes; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescent ion indicators have become indispensable tools in cell physiology. Dye indicators can easily be loaded into most types of cells, while genetically encoded indicators are advantageous in allowing specific cellular or subcellular targeting. LÄS MER

  2. 12. lmprovement of 177Lu-octreotate treatment of small-intestine neuroendocrine tumors by hyperfractionation

    Författare :Mikael Elvborn; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy; PRRT; somatostatin receptor; SSTR; apoptosis; gene expression; epigenetic effects;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroendocrine tumor incidence is steadily rising, and the late diagnosis often results in metastatic disease and current treatments mostly prolong life and in-crease quality of life without increasing cure rate. 177Lu-octreotate was recently approved for treatment of neuroendocrine tumors, but the dosage scheme should be optimized. 3. 13. Current Medical Treatment of Endocrine Pancreatic Tumors and Future Aspects

    Författare :Marie-Louise Fjällskog; Morten Vatn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; pancreatic tumors; somatostatin analogs; cisplatin; etoposide; somatostatin receptors; immunohistochemistry; tyrosine kinase receptors; platelet-derived growth factors receptors PDGFRs ; c-kit; epidermal growth factor receptor EGFR ; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; alfa-interferon; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : We treated 16 patients with somatostatin analogs combined with α-interferon and achieved a biochemical and/or radiological response in 56% (median duration 22 months). We consider this treatment a good alternative for patients who fail during chemotherapy or who do not want to/cannot receive cytotoxic drugs. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Secretory activity in isolated rat stomach ECL cells

    Författare :Erik Lindström; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; Calcium channels; Adrenaline; Pancreastatin; Prostaglandin E2; Galanin; Somatostatin; Histamine; Gastrin; VIP; PACAP; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : ECL cells are endocrine/paracrine cells located in the acid-producing part of the stomach. They are important regulators of gastric acid secretion in the stomach by virtue of their histamine synthesizing and secreting capacity. Histamine in turn stimulates parietal cells to secrete acid. 5. 15. Origin, release and functional significance of the novel gastric hormone ghrelin

    Författare :Charlotta Dornonville de la Cour; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; toxicology; Farmakologi; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; Pharmacological sciences; bone metabolism; energy homeostasis; glucagon; insulin; secretion; pancreastatin; somatostatin; histamine; gastrin; gastric acid secretion; ghrelin; gastric motility; A-like cells; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The novel gastric hormone ghrelin was discovered by virtue of its ability to release growth hormone (GH) via interaction with the so-called GH-secretagogue receptor (GHS-R). Earlier only synthetic agents were known to bind with the GHS-R, hence, ghrelin is the first identified endogenous ligand. LÄS MER
