21. Mathematical modeling of fluid and solute transport in peritoneal dialysis
Sammanfattning : Optimization of peritoneal dialysis schedule and dialysis fluid composition needs, among others, methods for quantitative assessment of fluid and solute transport. Furthermore, an integrative quantitative description of physiological processes within the tissue, which contribute to the net transfer of fluid and solutes, is necessary for interpretation of the data and for predictions of the outcome of possible intervention into the peritoneal transport system. 22. Numerical modeling of fluid flow and solute transport in rock fractures
Sammanfattning : This study focuses on numerical modeling of fluid flow and solute transport in rough-walled rock fractures and fracture-matrix systems, with the main aim to investigate the impacts of fracture surface roughness on flow and transport processes in rock fractures. Both 2D and 3D fracture models were built from laser-scanned surface tomography of a real granite rock sample, to consider realistic features of surface tomography and potential asperity contacts. 23. Influence of resuspension on sediment-water solute exchange and particle transport in marine environments
Sammanfattning : Marine sediments contain a large pool of nutrients, which if released would contribute to increased eutrophication, in spite of decreased nutrient loads from land and atmosphere. Resuspension is a process, which might influence the release of nutrients from the sediment to the overlying water. LÄS MER
24. In vivo Pharmacokinetics of Two New Thrombin Inhibitor Prodrugs : Emphasis on Intestinal and Hepatobiliary Disposition and the Influence of Interacting Drugs
Sammanfattning : Biliary excretion is an important elimination route for many drugs and metabolites. For such compounds, it is important to know the extent of excretion and drug exposure in the bile, e.g., for the risk assessment of drug interactions, liver toxicity and the effects of genetic variants. 25. Unlocking the Role Of Orphan Solute Carrier SLC38A10 In Brain Metabolism : The SLC38A10 transporter in nutrient and metabolic regulation
Sammanfattning : Membrane transporters are the primary gatekeepers of cells and regulate the transport of nutrients, metabolites, ions, water, and neurotransmitters into and across the human cells. The solute carrier transporters (SLCs) are the most prominent transporters, comprising 430 members divided into 65 subfamilies. LÄS MER
