  1. 16. Structural Uncertainties of Rock Fractures and their Effect on Flow and Tracer Transport

    Författare :Martin Stigsson; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Ki-Bok Min; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Fracture; Flow; Transport; Orientation uncertainty; Roughness; Self-affine; Fractal; Shear; Aperture distribution.; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Att förstå flöde och transport av lösta ämnen genom sprickorna i berggrunden är viktigt för den långsiktiga säkerheten av ett geologiskt slutförvar av farligt avfall. I en diskret spricknätverksmodell byggs flödesvägarna upp av kedjor av flödesvägar genom de enskilda sprickorna i bergmassan. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Heterogeneity-Induced Channelling, Flow-Wetted Surface, and Modelling of Transport in Fractured Rock

    Författare :Martin Larsson; Auli Niemi; Chin-Fu Tsang; VLADIMIR CVETKOVIC; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; channelling; flow-wetted surface; fractured rock; solute transport; groundwater modelling; groundwater; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Heterogeneities in fractured rock are found at all scales; from the scale of individual fractures, to the scale of fracture networks, and to the largest regional scales. These heterogeneities cause challenges for modelling and parameter estimation of flow and solute transport. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Analysis of Transvascular Transport Phenomena in the glomerular and peritoneal microcirculation

    Författare :CARL ÖBERG; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Peritoneal dialysis; glomerular filtration barrier; pore model; automated peritoneal dialysis APD ; three-pore model;

    Sammanfattning : The current work is devoted entirely to the study of passive transport phenomena, or more specifically, the more simple diffusion, electric migration and filtration of solute matter and water over glomerular and peritoneal capillary walls. The driving forces behind such trans-capillary transport phenomena have long been assumed to be simple gradients of concentration, hydrostatic pressure and electric potential. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Modeling Flow and Solute Transport in Packed Beds : Applications in On-site Wastewater Treatment Systems

    Författare :Amir Jourak; Krishna M. Pillai; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : The use of separate phosphorus (P) filter units containing replaceable filter materials with a high P binding capacity have been suggested as an appropriate passive method to treat the P from pre-treated domestic wastewater in on-site facilities. A large number of materials have been identified and suggested as being potentially suitable for such filters. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Environmental sanitation situation and solute transport in variably saturated soil in peri-urban Kampala

    Författare :Robinah Kulabako; Roger Thunvik; Felix Mtalo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental Sanitation; Kampala; Modelling; Phosphorus transport; Shallow groundwater; Peri-urban; Vadose zone; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental sanitation situation in Kampala’s peri-urban areas was reviewed and investigated through field studies, structured interviews with personnel from key institutions and administration of questionnaires to households in a selected peri-urban settlement (Bwaise III Parish).  In this settlement, specific field and laboratory measurements were undertaken so as to create a better understanding of the environmental sanitation situation, anthropogenic pollution loads and their transport and impact (with a focus on Phosphorus) in Kampala’s Peri-urban areas in pursuit of interventions for improving the environmental sanitation and protecting the shallow groundwater resource there.
