1. Chemical Engineering of Small Affinity Proteins
Sammanfattning : Small robust affinity proteins have shown great potential for use in therapy, in vivo diagnostics, and various biotechnological applications. However, the affinity proteins often need to be modified or functionalized to be successful in many of these applications. LÄS MER
2. Development and characterisation of protecting groups that enhance the solubility of synthetic peptides : Methods to improve the aqueous solubility of hydrophobic peptides
Sammanfattning : Chemical synthesis of peptides is generally performed by solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). Although SPPS is a rapid and convenient method to prepare peptides, the major methodological problem in SPPS is related to solvation/solubility. LÄS MER
3. Development of Substance P 1–7 Related Peptides and Peptidomimetics : Targeting Neuropathic Pain
Sammanfattning : The neuropeptide substance P 1–7 (SP1–7, H-Arg1-Pro2-Lys3-Pro4-Gln5-Gln6-Phe7-OH) and its amidated analogue SP1–7 amide, have displayed intriguing effects in experimental models for neuropathic pain acting on a specific, yet unknown SP1–7 target. The aim of this thesis was to design and synthesise SP1–7 related peptides and peptidomimetics, to be used as research tools to study the SP1–7 system, and to serve as drug leads in the neuropathic pain area. 4. Development of a covalent site-specific antibody labeling strategy by the use of photoactivable Z domains
Sammanfattning : The joining of two molecular functions or the strategy of adding functions to proteins has been tremendously important for the development of proteins as tools in research and clinic. Depending on the intended application, there are a wide variety of functions that can be added to a proteins. LÄS MER
5. Design and Synthesis of Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Protease Inhibitors
Sammanfattning : Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is the leading cause of chronic liver disease worldwide as well as the primary indication for liver transplantation. More than 3% of the world’s population is chronically infected with HCV and there is an urgent need for effective therapy. LÄS MER
