  1. 6. Modeling of structural integrity of aged low alloy steels using non-local mechanics

    Författare :Magnus Boåsen; Pål Efsing; Jacques Besson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Ageing of low alloy steels affects the structural integrity assessment as it most commonly causes embrittlement and a hardening of the material. This is due to theevolution of the microstructure during operation in the specific application. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Coupled vibrations in horizontal and vertical rotor-bearings systems

    Författare :Jean-Claude Luneno; Magnus Karlberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technology - Engineering mechanics; Teknikvetenskap - Teknisk mekanik; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : For dynamical systems having several degrees of freedom, motion in one direction can induce motion in the other and/or vice versa. This means that there is a certain coupling between these two motions. Coupling can in some cases be a source of instability that causes self-excited vibrations in rotating machinery. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Frictional Effects on Hertzian Contact and Fracture

    Författare :Denis Jelagin; Per-Lennart Larsson; Bertil Storåkers; David Hills; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact mechanics; Elastic material; Friction; Nanoindentation; Fracture; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses normal axisymmetric contact of dissimilar elastic solids at finite interfacial friction. It is shown that in the case of smooth and convex but otherwise arbitrary contact profiles and monotonically increasing loading a single stick-slip contour evolves being independent of loading and profile geometry. 4. 9. Initiation of rolling contact fatigue from asperities in elastohydrodynamic lubricated contacts

    Författare :Carl-Magnus Everitt; Bo Alfredsson; Stefan Björklund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spalling; Pitting; Slip; Elastohydrodynamic; Thermal elastohydrodynamic; Fatigue; Contact mechanics.; Pitting; Glidning; Elastohydrodynamik; Termisk elastohydrodynamik; Utmattning; Kontaktmekanik.; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contact between gear teeth. These components are often highly loaded, which makes them susceptible to suffer from rolling contact fatigue. This work focuses on the rolling contact fatigue mechanism of pitting. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Influence of surface roughness on rolling contact fatigue considering thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication effects : Due to Corona it is not possible to attend this defense in person, instead attend via this link: https://play.kth.se/media/0_omfsppe6

    Författare :Carl-Magnus Everitt; Bo Alfredsson; Andreas Almqvist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact mechanics; Rolling contact fatigue; Pitting; Spalling; Slip; Thermal elastohydrodynamic.; Kontaktmekanik; Rullande kontaktutmattning; Pitting; Glidning; Termisk elastohydrodynamik.; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contacts between gear teeth. These components are subjected to high loads in many of their applications. The high loads causes very high contact pressures which may cause rolling contact fatigue, often denoted as pitting or spalling. LÄS MER
