1. Domestic Heating with Solar Thermal : Studies of Technology in a Social Context and Social Components in Technical Studies
Sammanfattning : Research in solar heating has traditionally focused solely on increasing the system efficiency by improving the technical components. In this thesis the technical methodology and system boundaries are widened to connect the technical aspects with market actors that are highly influential on the implementation of solar technology. 2. Retrofitted Solar Domestic Hot Water System for Single-Family Electrically-Heated Houses: Development and testing
Sammanfattning : In Sweden, there are roughly half a million single family houses that use electric heating for both domestic hot water production and space heating. Since electricity is the most expensive energy source in Sweden, it is interesting to install a high solar fraction solar thermal system to reduce the energy use in these houses. LÄS MER
3. Novel and ancient technologies for heating and cooling buildings
Sammanfattning : The basic issue of this thesis concerns one of the fundamental problems of the future of our society: How to meet the energy requirements for a large and growing world population while preserving our environment? This question is important for the world and the answers are complex and interwoven.Conventional energy sources, fossil and fissile, are polluting in the present and in the future: they erode the environment and their resources are limited. 4. Energy use in multi-family dwellings : measurements and methods of analysis
Sammanfattning : In 2001, multi-family dwellings were built at nine properties in Västra hamnen, Malmö, Sweden. Several well known Swedish architects were involved in designing the buildings, hence they reflect modern architecture. Prior to the inauguration, the buildings were displayed at the international housing exhibition Bo01. LÄS MER
5. Evaluation of Modular Thermally Driven Heat Pump Systems
Sammanfattning : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of primary energy use within the European Union, therefore reductions in the energy use intensity of this sector are critical in decreasing total energy usage. Given that the majority of energy used within the built environment is for space conditioning and domestic hot water preparation, prudence would suggest that decreasing primary energy used for these end purposes would have the biggest overall environmental impact.
