21. Multi-scale fabric evolution during hydro-mechanical probing of fine-grained soils
Sammanfattning : The majority of the studies on sensitive clays so far have focused on the hydro-mechanical response at engineering scale, using concepts from continuum mechanics. The fundamental mechanisms at particle scale, underpinning the emerging response, have so far been studied with post mortem analyses. LÄS MER
22. Exceptional fossil preservation: implications for palaeobiology and taphonomy
Sammanfattning : Although fossils are relatively common in some sedimentary deposits, the majority consists of fragmented or distorted skeletal hard parts (such as shell and bones). However, in rare cases, special burial and diagenetic conditions have allowed a greater portion of the original anatomy to be incorporated into the fossil record. LÄS MER
23. The character of magnetic records of deformed soft sediments with emphasis on liquefaction structures
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the characteristics of magnetic records in deformed soft sediments during postglacial time in Sweden are studied. Magnetic records refer in this study to magnetic remanence (NRM and ChRM) and susceptibility, including its anisotropy (AMS). LÄS MER
24. Ground Improvement by Dry Deep Mixing Lime-Cement Column Panels as Excavation Support
Sammanfattning : Many urban areas near the coastal regions of Sweden are characterized by post-glacial clay deposits with very low undrained shear strength and high compressibility. Column type ground improvement by the Deep Mixing, DM, method using a binder mixture of lime and cement is commonly used in areas with poor soil conditions due to its cost-effectiveness, predominantly for settlement reduction and to improve the stability of embankments. 25. Sampling from large flotation cells : An invastigation of spatial distribution
Sammanfattning : The general trend in flotation technology today is towards larger flotation cells, which enables a higher throughput. However, adverse effects such as segregation and reduced froth transport efficiency have also been observed in larger cells. LÄS MER
