  1. 1. Matrix degrading proteases in vascular disease

    Författare :Sofia Jormsjö-Pettersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Atherosclerosis; abdominal aortic aneurysm; MMP; cathepsin; polymorphism; in vitro; proteases; extracellular matrix.;

    Sammanfattning : Diverse processes of vascular disease including lesion growth, plaque rupture and abdominal aortic aneurysm formation are influenced by protease expression. Arteries undergo compensatory remodelling when the mechanical forces that are imposed on them are altered. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Biodegradable gelatin microcarriers in tissue engineering : In vitro studies on cartilage and bone

    Författare :Sofia Pettersson; Gunnar Kratz; Pentti Tengvall; Jonas Wetterö; Julie Gold; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Tissue engineering is a multidisciplinary field that combines cells, biomaterial scaffolds and environmental factors to achieve functional tissue repair. This thesis focuses on the use of macroporous gelatin microcarriers as scaffolds in tissue engineering applications, with a special focus on cartilage and bone formation by human adult cells in vitro. 3. 3. New perspectives on Strategic Choice of Measures in Swedish Transport Planning

    Författare :Sofia Eckersten; Berit Balfors; Ulrika Gunnarsson-Östling; Fredrik Pettersson-Löfstedt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Rapid changes in the global climate and declining biodiversity pronounces the need for adapting the transport system and transport infrastructure, which influence several sustainability issues and cause direct environmental impact through their use of land, as well as indirect impacts, for example, emissions of pollutants to air and water. The Swedish Transport Administration (STA) is responsible for and conducts a large part of the transport planning in Sweden and the STA endeavor to increase collaboration with other societal actors in transport planning. 4. 4. Amyloid-β Protofibrils in Alzheimer´s Disease : Focus on Antibodies, Inflammation and Astrocytes

    Författare :Sofia Söllvander; Lars Lannfelt; Anna Erlandsson; Frida Ekholm-Pettersson; Linda Söderberg; Pär Gellerfors; Martin Hallbeck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer s Disease; Amyloid-beta; Protofibrils; ELISA; ELISpot; Astrocyte; Monoclonal Antibody; Immunofluorescence; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Soluble amyloid-beta (Aβ) aggregates, including Aβ protofibrils, play a central role in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and constitute a potential diagnostic biomarker and a therapeutic target. Aβ protofibrils promote synapse dysfunction and neurodegeneration, but the mechanisms behind these effects remain unclear. LÄS MER
